October rain
Is older
Than June
When heavy
With children
Sprinkled
These drops hold
To the pane
Longer
And windily
Rise to
A longer dawn
The pocket night
Past scattered prisms
Meets the whites
Of foraging eyes
An opossum
In profile
Runs flat
Across the road
Out of the pouch
Of October
