The island
Shaped
Like a scythe
Makes no good levee
Here
Winter ivy is eaten
By skunk cabbage
And fiddleheads
Monstrous
In their time
Alien to earth
Water puts out
Fire in spring
Underneath
Shifts the ground
At last
Years flood
