Out of glee (after Plath)

Out of glee
Full present
Cozy corners
Cozier huts
Newt inspired
With- slithered, open
Sinner and peasant
Clasped, licentious fingered
Magic and common lightly

If by such care
Would caress and love
The intimate, examined
Unwinding cuffs
All spirit freed
And muscled
No black dog
Returned from swamp
The languid muck
Of the devil’s village
And heaven’s gate

Unbridle
Run there
A sinner slacks
His mending hands
Self- healing
His wounds
Once red
Sacred of hell
Dry, without thorns
And downy felt
Not pestered arms

Run there happy
Un-kinged
Gathering the soft
And gentle vanquished
Bring thanks to the river
Horse- forded
And whole
A boy could immerse
Head back to the sky

Unsettled
Present idiots
Frowning at inaction
Free the enemy
Sloppily by faith in air
Loose held as the unborn
God who mourns
Skinned wines
And river dregs
